Inspired by a famous chocolate bar from Dubai, these thick and gooey treats are filled with creamy pistachio and crispy kataifi for the perfect mix of soft, crunchy, and rich.

What makes Dubai chocolate cookies so special? It’s the rich flavor and mix of smooth and crunchy textures that make every bite feel like a treat. Whether you saw them on TikTok or just love a good chocolate dessert, you’re in for something delicious.

In this article, we’ll look at what’s inside, how to make them at home, and why everyone’s falling in love with this cookie. Let’s get started.

Part 2: Why the Chocolate in Dubai Cookies Feels So Fancy

What makes Dubai chocolate cookies stand out from all the others? It’s the chocolate—really good chocolate. The kind that’s smooth, rich, and filled with something special like creamy pistachio or even a hint of saffron.

The idea came from a viral chocolate bar made by a dessert shop in Dubai. When people saw it break open on TikTok to reveal a soft, creamy center wrapped in chocolate, it quickly became an internet favorite. And that’s how the cookie version took off.

Dubai chocolate is a little different from your everyday bar. It’s often made in small batches with high-quality ingredients like roasted pistachios, real cocoa, and crispy little strands of pastry called kataifi. It’s the kind of treat that feels a bit more luxurious—and yes, it’s usually more expensive too. But once you taste it, you’ll get why.

That special chocolate is what gives Dubai chocolate cookies their rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth magic. It’s not just a cookie—it’s a little bite of something fancy.

For the chocolate cookie dough:

  • 200 grams Unsalted butter take the butter out of the fridge 30 minutes before starting so it’s not completely solid
  • 125 grams Light brown sugar
  • 100 grams White caster sugar
  • 2 large Eggs or 3 medium eggs. Room temperature.
  • 250 grams Self-raising flour
  • 100 grams Plain flour
  • 50 grams Cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 100 grams Milk chocolate chips

For the pistachio filling:

  • 1 teaspoon Unsalted butter
  • 2 Filo pastry sheets (75 grams)
  • 200 grams Pistachio cream

Instructions

Start by making the pistachio filling:

  • Place the butter in a large saucepan and melt over low heat.
    1 teaspoon Unsalted butter
  • Use your hands to tear the filo pastry into small pieces and place in the saucepan.
2 Filo pastry sheets (75 grams)
  • With the heat on medium, use a spatula or wooden spoon to move the filo around until crunchy, golden and toasted. This can take at least 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and tip into a bowl.
  • Remove the lid from the jar of pistachio cream and microwave for 10-20 seconds. Give it a stir until it’s melted and smooth.
    200 grams Pistachio cream
  • Pour the pistachio cream on top of the toasted filo (save 2 tablespoons for the decoration) and stir until fully coated. Set aside and leave to cool.

Start by making the cookie dough:

  • Chop the butter into chunks and place in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer or wooden spoon for a few minutes, until it’s soft and broken up but not at the ‘creamed’ stage.
    200 grams Unsalted butter
  • Mix in the light brown sugar and white caster sugar until the mixture is combined and looks like wet sand. Try not to over-mix at this stage otherwise the butter will become too soft.
125 grams Light brown sugar,100 grams White caster sugar
  • Mix in both of the eggs. The mixture won’t look very appealing at this stage but don’t worry it will do soon!
    2 large Eggs
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the self-raising flour, plain flour, cocoa powder and salt together until combined. Add to the butter mixture and fold to make a thick cookie dough.
    250 grams Self-raising flour,100 grams Plain flour,50 grams Cocoa powder,0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
    100 grams Milk chocolate chips

Fill and roll the cookie dough:

  • Line a baking tray or tin (one that will fit inside your freezer) with greaseproof paper.
  • Break off large heaped tablespoons of cookie dough and flatten in the palm of your hand. Add a teaspoon of the pistachio filling in the middle and wrap the dough around it to make a ball. Repeat until all the dough is used up, you should be able to make 12 cookies in total.

  • Place the rolled cookies on the baking tin and wrap the tin tightly in foil. Freeze for 90 minutes (or 60 minutes should do the trick if you’re in a rush!).

Bake the cookies:

  • Towards the end of the freezing time, preheat the oven to 200°C fan / 220°C conventional. Line a large baking tray with greaseproof paper and place the tray in the oven for 5 minutes to heat up. The heated tray will give the cookies a crisp outside but gooey middle.
  • Place 4-5 frozen cookies on the preheated tray, leaving space between each.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until firm on the edge but soft in the middle. The cookies should still be thick with little spread. You can use a round cookie cutter to scoot them into shape.
  • Leave the cookies to cool on the baking tray for 15 minutes.

Decorate the cookies:

  1. Remove the lid from the jar of pistachio cream and microwave for 10-20 seconds. Give it a stir until it’s melted and smooth.
  2. Pipe or drizzle the melted pistachio onto of the cookies. Then tuck in and enjoy!

So what’s actually inside a Dubai chocolate cookie that makes it so over-the-top delicious? It’s all about the layers. These cookies might look like thick chocolate chip cookies on the outside, but once you take a bite, you’ll discover a creamy surprise hiding in the middle.

Key Ingredients That Make It Special

At the center of it all is a rich, chocolatey cookie that’s slightly crisp on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle. But the real twist is what’s stuffed inside: a creamy pistachio filling mixed with toasted kataifi pastry.

Here’s what each part brings to the cookie:

  • Chocolate cookie base – Thick and fudgy, with a deep cocoa flavor
  • Pistachio cream – Smooth, sweet, and rich (warming it slightly makes it extra melty)
  • Kataifi (shredded filo pastry) – Light and crispy, adding a little crunch to the center
  • Brown butter – Adds a deep, buttery flavor that makes each bite even richer
  • Milk chocolate chips – Melt into the cookie for pockets of creamy chocolate

The Creamy-Crispy Center Everyone Loves

What really sets Dubai chocolate cookies apart is that surprise in the middle. The pistachio cream gets blended with golden, crunchy kataifi and then stuffed right into the center of each cookie. Once baked, the outside stays thick and chewy, while the inside becomes a melty, creamy dream with just a hint of crunch.

That mix of soft, creamy, and crispy textures is what makes these cookies so hard to resist. Whether you’re sharing or keeping them all for yourself, they’re always a hit.

Part 5: Comparing Crumbl and Homemade Dubai Chocolate Cookies

If you’ve ever walked into a Crumbl store, you know they’re famous for their big, bold, and creative cookie flavors. But do they make Dubai chocolate cookies? Not exactly. While Crumbl offers cookies inspired by international flavors, a true Dubai-style chocolate cookie—with pistachio cream and crispy kataifi—is still something you’ll need to make at home.

So let’s break it down and see how homemade stacks up against store-bought in a few simple steps:

Step 1: Ingredients

Crumbl Cookies

  • Classic bakery staples: butter, sugar, chocolate chips
  • Rotating flavors, often very sweet
  • No pistachio cream or kataifi in their usual menu

Homemade Dubai Chocolate Cookies

  • Uses brown butter for extra flavor
  • Stuffed with pistachio cream and crispy kataifi
  • Tastes richer, nuttier, and more layered

👉 If you’re looking for something unique, homemade wins this round.

Step 2: Texture

Crumbl Cookies

  • Thick and soft, sometimes cakey
  • Melts slightly but often feels dense

Dubai Chocolate Cookies

  • Gooey center with a soft bite
  • Crispy outside and creamy inside

👉 Dubai cookies offer more texture contrast—and that makes every bite exciting.

Step 3: Flavor

Crumbl Cookies

  • Often very sweet
  • Creative but more on the sugary side

Dubai Chocolate Cookies

  • Balanced chocolate and pistachio flavors
  • Slightly toasted and buttery from brown butter
  • Not overly sweet

👉 Homemade has deeper flavor without being too sugary.

Step 4: Experience

Crumbl Cookies

  • Grab-and-go convenience
  • Limited flavors each week

Homemade Dubai Cookies

  • More work, but worth it
  • Customizable and fresh out of the oven

👉 If you love baking and want something special, making them yourself is the way to go.

Final Thoughts

Crumbl cookies are fun for a quick fix or sweet craving, but if you want something with real depth and that wow factor, homemade Dubai chocolate cookies are in a league of their own. They’re not just cookies—they’re an experience.

Part 6: How to Make Dubai Chocolate Cookies at Home

Making Dubai chocolate cookies at home might sound impressive, but it’s actually pretty simple once you break it down. With the right ingredients and a few helpful tips, you can bake cookies that are rich, gooey, and just as amazing as the viral ones you’ve seen online.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you make your own:

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

For the cookie dough:

  • 200g unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 125g light brown sugar
  • 100g white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 100g plain flour
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 100g milk chocolate chips

For the pistachio filling:

  • 1 tsp unsalted butter
  • 2 filo pastry sheets (shredded or cut small)
  • 200g pistachio cream

Step 2: Make the Pistachio Kataifi Filling

  1. Melt the butter in a pan over low heat.
  2. Tear or cut the filo pastry into small pieces. Add to the pan and toast until golden and crisp (about 5–10 minutes). Stir often to avoid burning.
  3. Microwave the pistachio cream for about 15 seconds until it softens.
  4. Mix the cream with the toasted filo. Set aside to cool.

  1. In a bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth.
  2. Add the sugars and mix until it looks like soft wet sand.
  3. Mix in the eggs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the flours, cocoa powder, and salt together.
  5. Add the dry mix to the butter mixture and stir until combined.
  6. Fold in the milk chocolate chips.

Step 4: Fill and Shape the Cookies

  1. Scoop out a large tablespoon of cookie dough. Flatten it in your hand.
  2. Add a teaspoon of pistachio kataifi filling to the center.
  3. Wrap the dough around the filling and roll it into a ball.
  4. Repeat until all dough is used. You should get around 12 cookies.

Step 5: Freeze Before Baking

Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Wrap and freeze them for at least 90 minutes. This helps keep them thick and prevents too much spreading.

Step 6: Bake

  1. Preheat your oven to 390°F (200°C fan or 220°C regular).
  2. Heat the baking tray in the oven for 5 minutes.
  3. Place 4–5 frozen cookies on the hot tray, spaced apart.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are set and the centers still look soft.
  5. Let them cool on the tray for 15 minutes before serving.

Step 7: Optional Topping

Warm up a little more pistachio cream and drizzle it over the cookies before serving. It looks great and adds even more flavor.

That’s it! Your homemade Dubai chocolate cookies are ready—crispy on the edges, soft in the center, and filled with that creamy pistachio crunch.

Part 7: Why People Love Dubai Chocolate Cookies

There’s a reason Dubai chocolate cookies have become such a hit—they’re just that good. The mix of rich chocolate, creamy pistachio, and a little crunch makes every bite feel special.

People love them for the flavor, sure, but it’s also the texture. They’re soft in the middle, crispy on the edges, and full of surprises inside. They feel like a treat you’d get from a fancy bakery, but you can make them right at home.

Whether you’re baking them to share or saving a few for yourself, they always impress. One bite, and you’ll get why everyone’s obsessed.

Part 8: Where to Buy Authentic Dubai Chocolate Cookies

If baking isn’t your thing or you’re just curious to try the original, you might be wondering where to buy authentic Dubai chocolate cookies. While they’re not yet found in most U.S. bakeries, there are a few ways you can get your hands on them.

Online Dessert Shops

Some boutique dessert shops and chocolatiers in Dubai, like FIX Dessert Chocolatier, offer shipping options. While international delivery might take some time, it’s a great way to taste the real deal. Keep in mind that these cookies can be pricey due to premium ingredients and limited production.

Local Middle Eastern Bakeries

A few Middle Eastern bakeries in major U.S. cities have started to offer Dubai-inspired chocolate treats. These may not be exact replicas but still feature similar flavors like pistachio, chocolate, and kataifi.

If you’re lucky enough to live near a bakery that specializes in global desserts, check their seasonal or specialty menus.

Make Them at Home

Of course, the easiest way to enjoy Dubai chocolate cookies is to make them yourself. That way, you can choose the ingredients, decide how big or small you want them, and enjoy them warm and fresh right out of the oven.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is so special about Dubai chocolate?

Dubai chocolate stands out because it blends rich, high-quality cocoa with unique fillings like pistachio cream, saffron, and crispy kataifi. It’s not just about the taste—it’s about the full experience. The smooth texture, bold flavors, and luxury presentation make it feel more like a gourmet treat than an everyday chocolate bar. That’s exactly what inspired the now-famous Dubai chocolate cookies.

What is in a Dubai cookie?

A Dubai cookie usually includes a rich chocolate cookie base filled with creamy pistachio and crispy kataifi (shredded filo pastry). The cookie dough is often made with brown butter and milk chocolate chips for extra flavor. Once baked, the outside is slightly crisp, while the inside stays gooey and soft with a surprise filling that melts in your mouth.

Does Crumbl cookie have Dubai chocolate?

Crumbl currently doesn’t offer an official Dubai chocolate cookie on their rotating menu. While they do feature globally-inspired flavors, none of them match the signature pistachio and kataifi-filled chocolate cookie that went viral. For now, homemade or specialty bakeries are your best bet to try one.

Why is Dubai chocolate so expensive?

Dubai chocolate tends to be more expensive because it’s often handcrafted in small batches with premium ingredients. Think single-origin cocoa, imported pistachios, saffron, and artisanal fillings. Many are also beautifully packaged, which adds to the cost. When used in Dubai chocolate cookies, it turns a simple dessert into something truly special and luxurious.
