1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined.
Fold in your mix-ins (up to 1½ cups total).
Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and centers look soft.
Let cool 3–5 minutes on pan before transferring to a wire rack.
